15-16 Dec 2025 Paris (France)

Description

Spins in solids are natural candidates for creating qubits. Their coherence time can be very long (seconds for electron spins, hours for nuclear spins). However, an important question is how they interface with other quantum systems.

This workshop focuses on the use of superconducting circuits in the quantum regime (cooled to 10 mK) for interfacing spin impurities in solids (rare earth ions in crystals, donors in silicon, NV centers in diamond, etc.). On the one hand, microwave resonators with low mode volume and high quality factor can accelerate the radiative de-excitation of electron spins through the Purcell spin effect, thus providing a method for initializing their quantum state. On the other hand, they provide ultra-sensitive microwave detectors (quantum-limit amplifiers and microwave photon counters) that have dramatically improved detection sensitivity, even enabling the detection of individual spins in recent years. Finally, they can serve as an interface for the creation of microwave quantum memories based on spin ensembles.

The workshop audience will consist of active research groups in the field, who have been meeting annually since 2009 to exchange ideas. This will be the 14th edition.

Where

The conference will be hosted at the University of Chicago John W. Boyer center in Paris, 41 Rue des Grands Moulins, 75013 Paris

The venue is next to the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand train station. The best way to reach here from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport or Paris Gare du Nord is to take the RER B train to Saint Michel Notre Dame, then RER C to Bibliothèque François Mitterrand.

Participants arriving from Orly airport can take the M14 metro direct to Bibliothèque François Mitterrand.
